7 Launch
Squarespace
Launching Squarespace 7 by showcasing its simpler-than-ever tools
context
Our first collaboration was to launch Squarespace’s new interface, called Squarespace 7. The goal of the 7 launch was to introduce a completely redesigned set of creative tools that made getting started on Squarespace easier than ever before.
collaboration
Today Squarespace is known as one of the top creative advertisers, often raising the stakes with their Super Bowl ads and more. Squarespace came to SpecialGuest in the early days of the brand’s steps into advertising, in 2014. We acted as one integrated team with CCO David Lee’s team at a critical moment for the company: the launch of version 7. This was a huge leap technologically for the company; 10 years later, the latest version of Squarespace is 7.1, so the work it did with SpecialGuest set the scene for the decade to come.
concept
SpecialGuest created a TV/online film series showing the latest updates in the familiar Squarespace design perspective, with the tagline “Start Here. Go Anywhere.” We also produced documentary films about influencers who use Squarespace to capture and convey their work and themselves: In one, Jean-Philip Grobler of Brooklyn band St. Lucia describes his website as a tool to expand St. Lucia’s aesthetic and authentically represent the band. In another, rock-climbing phenomenon Alex Honnold shares how his website allows him to portray himself on his own terms.
