In 2017, Spotify and SpecialGuest developed a money phone as a gift for the top musicians of the RapCaviar playlist.

To celebrate these top artists, we knew we had to do something iconic—and what’s more iconic than the money phone? 50 Cent claims he invented the money phone, and various rappers have been seen posing with stacks of Benjamins next to their ears.
This sparked the perfect gift: a money phone that works. SpecialGuest printed stacks of fake cash, then added a slot to each stack so the phone could be inserted and secured, creating a real money case. The gift was shipped to artists such as Cardi B, who was filmed as she dubiously put the phone to her ear, playing up culturally iconic moments. Now these top musicians no longer have to pretend their stacks of Benjamins are a phone.
